RESOLUTION HONORING CHRIS A. BARYAMES

RESOLUTION #10-260

WHEREAS, Chris A. Baryames, the founder of Baryames Cleaners and Baryames Tuxedo Shops; was a local businessman and lifelong resident of Lansing; and

WHEREAS, after serving in the Army as a bombardier navigator, Chris returned to Lansing and expanded the National Hat Shop and Newsstand with his sisters into what is now known as Baryames Cleaners; and

WHEREAS, in the 1960's, Chris tried his hand at politics serving as a Councilman-at-large for the City of Lansing for four years; and

WHEREAS, upon his retirement from Baryames in 1980, Chris and his wife traveled extensively; and

WHEREAS, Chris was an avid skier and golfer, he was also a huge fan and booster of Michigan State University.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honors Chris A. Baryames for the many contributions he has made to the citizens of Ingham County as a local businessman and as a member of the Lansing City Council.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Chris has touched the lives of many and will live forever in the hearts of his colleagues, friends and family – especially his loving wife Betty and their children.
