RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF A CASH AWARD FOR
MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY ADOLESCENT DIVERSION PROJECT
RESOLUTION #10-277
WHEREAS, the Ingham County Circuit Court, Family Division has collaborated with Michigan State University for more than 30 years to support the Michigan State University Adolescent Diversion Project, now known as the Michigan State University Adolescent Project; and
WHEREAS, the Michigan State University Adolescent Project has been under the leadership of Distinguished Professor Dr. William Davidson; and
WHEREAS, the Michigan State University Adolescent Project has provided excellent mentoring services to over 4,000 at risk juveniles in Ingham County; and
WHEREAS, Michigan State University and the Ingham County Circuit Court Family Division have been awarded the 2010 Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Partnership Award for Campus-Community Collaboration; and
WHEREAS, in addition to a plaque, a cash amount of $10,000 was awarded to both Michigan State University and Ingham County to be divided equally; and
WHEREAS, the Ingham County Circuit Court Family Division has identified a need to purchase incentives and rewards for the juveniles involved in the Michigan State University Adolescent Project with the $5,000 awarded to Ingham County; and
WHEREAS, the money spent on rewards and incentives is eligible for reimbursement from the Child Care Fund and therefore becomes $10,000.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the acceptance of the cash award of $5,000 for the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Partnership Award for Campus-Community Collaboration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes purchasing incentives and rewards with the award money to be spent on the juveniles involved in the Michigan State University Adolescent Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the County Controller/Administrator is authorized to make the necessary budget amendments within the 2010/2011 Child Care Fund Budget in the amount of $5,000 in the Michigan State University Adolescent Project line item.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chairperson of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners and the County Clerk are authorized to sign any necessary contractual documents consistent with this Resolution and approved as to form by the County Attorney.
