RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE A PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY’S OLIN HEALTH CENTER

RESOLUTION #10-305

WHEREAS, Michigan State University’s Olin Health Center provides point-of-entry health care for many MSU student residents; and

WHEREAS, the Health Department’s Public Health Services Division serves as an important resource to links for health services in the community, and provides follow up of reportable communicable disease; and

WHEREAS, Michigan State University is introducing the concept of community/public health nursing to a group of MSU residence halls; and

WHEREAS, Michigan State University’s Olin Health Center is requesting that Public Health Nursing and Communicable Disease staff assist in the orientation of and provide consultation for the MSU Community Health Nurses to prepare them for this new endeavor; and

WHEREAS, the Health Officer recommends that the Board of Commissioners authorize an agreement with Michigan State University’s Olin Health Center in the amount up to $14,960, to provide the consultation and training services.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes an agreement with Michigan State University’s Olin Health Center for up to $14,960, for services including the orientation of and consultation for the MSU Community Health Nurses to be provided by the Health Department.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the period of the agreement shall be August 1, 2010 through January 31, 2011.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Controller/Administrator is authorized to make any necessary budget adjustments consistent with this resolution.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board Chairperson is authorized to sign the agreement and any documents that might be required by Michigan State University after review by the County Attorney.
