RESOLUTION HONORING NORM AUSTIN FOR HIS YEARS OF SERVICE
WITH THE CITY OF MASON FIRE DEPARTMENT
RESOLUTION #10-366
WHEREAS, Norm Austin has been a lifelong resident of the City of Mason; and
WHEREAS, Norm has always been proud of the fire department, and 38 years ago he became a member; and
WHEREAS, during his years of service with the City of Mason Fire Department, Norm has served under five fire chiefs, worked in three fire stations and has held every position within the department; and
WHEREAS, he is instrumental in the annual 9-11 ceremony, in keeping the Honor Guard together and looking sharp, leading the crew that decorates Tower 808 for the annual light parade in November, and also
organizing the trip for the annual National Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial in Emmetsburg, Maryland; and
WHEREAS, family means more to Norm than anything else – involvement with the Mason Fire Department has been a family affair for Norm with his father Leland Austin previously serving as Fire Chief, step son Dick Rice serving in the department for many years, son-in-law John Sabbadin has been in the department for 15 years and nephew Steve Armstrong for 37 years; and
WHEREAS, after years of dedicated service, Norm is leaving the City of Mason Fire Department.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honors Norm Austin for his commitment, contributions and the countless hours he has devoted to the citizens of Ingham County as a 38 year veteran of the City of Mason Fire Department.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board extends its sincere appreciation and wishes Norm continued success in his future endeavors.
