RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE
STATE OF MICHIGAN OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY PLANNING (OHSP)
TO PURCHASE MICROSOFT VISIO PROGRAMS
FOR TRAFFIC ACCIDENT REPORTING
RESOLUTION #10-378
WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office routinely investigates property damage and personal injury accidents on the public highways in the county utilizing Michigan State Police accident forms, known as UD-10’s; and
WHEREAS, the Michigan State Police in 2010 required all police agencies to submit electronic UD-10 accident reports of accidents policed in their jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office met this requirement from the Michigan State Police however, due to costs of licenses for completion of the accident drawing for the electronic submission, the Sheriff’s Office was able to only utilize one computer to complete the paperless report; and
WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office submitted a grant proposal with the State of Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning to purchase thirty-four (34) Microsoft Visio Programs to expand the ability of all patrol deputies to complete the paperless, electronic UD-10’s in their patrol vehicles without having to come to the Sheriff’s Office to do so; and
WHEREAS, the State of Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning (OHSP) granted the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office $4,776.32, to purchase the thirty-four (34) Microsoft Visio Programs for the traffic accident reporting; and
WHEREAS, acceptance of this grant funding will allow the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies to more efficiently investigate and report traffic accidents on our roadways within Ingham County and meet the demands of the Michigan State Police electronic submission requirements.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners approves acceptance of the FY 2010-11 grant from the State of Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning (OHSP) for $4,776.32 ,to purchase thirty-four (34) Microsoft Visio Programs for the traffic accident reporting.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Controller/Administrator’s Office is authorized to make the necessary budget adjustments in the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office 2010 budget and the Purchasing Department is authorized to issue the necessary purchase order or purchase documents needed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chairperson of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners and the County Clerk are authorized to sign any necessary contract/purchase documents consistent with this Resolution and approved as to form by the County Attorney.
