RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE AN AMENDMENT TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD

FOR SERVICES AT THE INGHAM COUNTY JAIL

RESOLUTION #10-056

WHEREAS, Ingham County has an Administrative Services Agreement with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan to support medical services for Jail inmates, dating from December 1, 1996; and

WHEREAS, Blue Cross Blue Shield has advised Ingham County that it is necessary to amend the Administrative Services Agreement and attach a Business Associates Agreement that addresses the privacy and security of protected health information; and

WHEREAS, the Health Officer recommends that the Board of Commissioners authorize the Business Associates Agreement as an amendment to the BCBSM Administrative Services Agreement.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes an amendment to the Administrative Services Agreement for services provided to Ingham County Jail inmates by adopting and attaching a Business Associates Agreement to clarify the privacy and security of protected health information.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Business Associates Agreement shall be effective upon its execution and shall continue in effect until amended or terminated by the two parties.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chairperson of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners is authorized to sign the amended Business Associates Agreement after review by the Ingham County Attorney.
