The governing body for the County of Ingham, exercising legislative and administrative functions. Primary functions include determination of type and level of County services, adoption of County budget, equalization of property values, legislative oversight services.
The County Controller is the chief fiscal and administrative officer. Responsibilities include directing central administrative functions, acting as liaison, as well as preparing and executing a balanced County budget.
We are responsible for keeping records of births, deaths, assumed names, co-partnerships, issuing and filing marriage licenses, and processes gun permits as well as notary bonds.
Responsible for construction, maintenance and improvement of County public storm drains, and the administration of drainage districts. Other responsibilities include lake level control and soil erosion control.
We maintain original documents and public records for establishing property rights.
We maintain an adequate cash flow. We collect delinquent real property taxes, maintain debt service accounts, collect and disburse hotel accommodation taxes, and are responsible for sale of dog licenses.
