Ingham County Seeking Applications to Fill Vacancy on Board of Commissioners

The Ingham County Board of Commissioners announced the process for making an appointment to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Commissioner Brian McGrain, who was appointed by Mayor Schor to serve as Director of the Economic Development and Planning Department for the City of Lansing.

Applications with resumes’ will be accepted until Monday, January 22, 2018 at 5 p.m. Applications are available online at www.ingham.org, or by contacting the Board of Commissioners’ Office at (517) 676-7200.   The Board of Commissioners’ Democratic Caucus will interview candidates for the position on January 30, 2018 and will recommend an applicant for appointment to the full Board of Commissioners at its February 13, 2018 meeting.

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must be registered voters in District 10 which includes the following precincts:

City of East Lansing - Precincts 1 and 16
City of Lansing - Precincts 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-45 and 2-21
Lansing Township - Precincts 1 and 2

“Commissioner McGrain has been a great County Commissioner and we are sad to lose him” said Carol Koenig, Chairperson of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners. “Our loss is the City of Lansing’s gain”. Commissioner Koenig added “We plan on an open and orderly process for filling this vacancy”.
